Why Am I Tired?

Besides the obvious reasons:  Work, kids, Netflix marathons, constant video/computer stimulation, mental stress. You name it, all of it causes mental/physical fatigue.  I am talking about the most overlooked reason. Sluggish liver syndrome. That’s it in a nutshell. Your liver is tired. The liver is the hardest working organ in your system and the most overlooked. It has over 500 functions to perform on a daily basis. What are they you ask:  here we go———

  1. Produces over 13,000 chemical and regulates over 50,000 enzymes.
  2. The liver balances hormones such as estrogen and testosterone.
  3. It filters almost 100 gallons of blood daily.
  4. The liver converts glucose to energy
  5. Stores essential nutrients, such as D, K, A B’s
  6. Detoxifies waste products (if the liver stopped detoxifying you would be dead within hours).
  7. It produces bile to break down fats and help with digestion.

I could go on and on, but what are we going to do about it?

As you get older the liver becomes less efficient. There are decades of exposure to pesticides, heavy metals, air and water pollution which causes the liver to age faster. It cannot regenerate itself as well as it used to. This results in your fatigue because the liver cannot convert glucose in to energy quickly, then you keep piling on pounds of weight (especially the middle). Your liver gets bogged down with fat deposits (cellulite forms).  It’s all downhill from there. Joint problems, age spots, high cholesterol, increased blood pressure/ memory vision problems, indigestion/constipation and the list keeps getting longer and longer.

First, the liver needs nutrients to perform its daily functions (the heavy work load). A weak liver causes the adrenals to become sluggish and fatigued as well. You need to detox the liver, then nutritionally support it, and tonify and nourish the adrenals.  You should speak to your healthcare provider before you attempt to do this process. You should seek a health care professional who is skilled in this area, or simply come see me at VIDA and start on your way to wellness and gain your clarity/vitality back.  Licorice root (glycyrrhizin) helps with this process but you need deglycyrrhizined, so it does not raise blood pressure. See that’s why I suggest seeking professional help with the cleansing process. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is excellent for removing fatty deposits in the liver. It helps reduce liver damage caused by alcohol and other toxins. There are many other nutrients needed as well, but again, seek professional help with this process.
